TAAI members to select winners of TAAI Travel Awards 2010

Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) has decided to open the TAAI Travel Awards to its members to choose the winners for this year. The association will have 16 awards this year comprising from aviation, hospitality, technology and tourism board categories. Of this, 11 awards will be dedicated to the aviation and hospitality segment. The awards will be given at the sidelines of India Travel Trade Expo (ITTE) to be conducted on August 6-7, 2010 at World Trade Centre. The award ceremony will be held on August 6, 2010 at Taj Lands End.
About 400 travel agents across the country are expected to vote for the awards. The remaining five awards related to the tourism boards and TAAI internal awards will be judged by an expert committee.

Speaking about the idea behind this initiative, Sunil Kumar, Secretary General and Chairman- Awards Committee, TAAI stated, “We have decided to open the awards to the TAAI associated travel agents this year as we want to ensure what we call ‘experiential voting’ this year. We believe that the travel agent is a point of contact between the clients and airlines or hotels. Hence, the experience and opinion of one travel agent reflects that of three to four passengers. We expect the results of the awards to generate public opinion.”
